17 sea turtle nests washed out to sea during Hurricane Ian while one dormant green sea turtle nest was discovered. But despite these losses the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) reported that 35,857 hatchlings emerged from nests during the summer season. Most were Loggerhead Sea Turtles.
