Sanibel’s Shell Museum Announces Lecture Series Dates
May 30, 2022

Water quality is of the highest important to vacationers and residents of Sanibel & Captiva, and our local non-profits such as the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) and Clinic for the Rehabilitation for Wildlife (CROW) regularly provide information that keeps interested parties briefed.

Most recently, a Conservation Foundation press release reported that satellite imagery did not detects Karenia brevis blooms off the coast of Southwest Florida in the previous week of May 12-May 19, 2022.

However, CROW reported that they received 5 birds from the week prior with symptoms of toxicosis linked to red tide. CROW has developed an effective protocol for treating this condition and has a good success rate of releasing birds back to the wild.
