Pictured here is Christ and the Samaritan Woman.
The original, a 67” x 43” Oil and Tempera on Canvas, was sold last year, but art collectors can purchase a giclee of this stunning image at the East West Fine Art.
The painting comes from the biblical passage of Christ stopping to speak with a woman of Samaria as she takes water from a well. In this surrealistic composition the ground falls away into the sky and the urn with water is suspended in mid air.
“It is strikingly beautiful and quite timeless,” said gallery owner Leeza Arkhangelskay. “Christ is asking for water from the Sumarian woman and offers her eternal life in exchange — it is this offer of salvation that I believe is so important in the painting.”
East West Fine Art is the only gallery in North America with a collection of Plutenko’s originals. The gallery is located about one hour south of Sanibel Island in the Mercato in Naples.
GoToSanibelCaptiva.com will post a series of Plutenko’s paintings in the weeks and months to come. In our most recent print edition of Island Scene magazine we showcased Georgy Kurasov, another exceptional artist represented by East West Fine Art. Find the article in the digital version of Island Scene at the footer of the homepage.
